Bereavement Committee
About
In times of loss, the Catholic communities of Holy Family Church and St. Bernard Church stand with you. Our Bereavement Committee is dedicated to walking alongside families, offering both spiritual guidance and practical support as we honor the lives of those who have passed and look forward to the hope of the Resurrection.
Planning the Mass of Christian Burial
Our committee members meet personally with families to help prepare the funeral liturgy. This sacred process is designed to celebrate your loved one’s life while witnessing to our shared faith. We assist with:
- Scripture Selection: Choosing meaningful readings from the Old and New Testaments.
- Sacred Music: Selecting hymns and songs that provide comfort and prayerful reflection.
- Liturgical Guidance: Explaining the symbols and rituals of the funeral Mass that reflect our belief in eternal life.
Ongoing Care and Support
Our ministry’s reach extends beyond the funeral day. The committee meets regularly to assess the needs of our mourning community and provides:
- Grief Support: Recommendations for counseling services and local support groups.
- Spiritual Companionship: A prayerful presence for those navigating the journey of grief.
Special Musical Tribute
At St. Bernard Church, a dedicated Funeral Choir is available to sing during the Mass of Christian Burial, adding a layer of beauty and solemnity to the liturgy through the gift of sacred song.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4
