2020 will be remembered as the year that changed so many aspects of our lives. The pandemic really stopped us from our ordinary routines and activities. As a parish, we stopped having public Mass in March and would not resume having people at daily Mass until mid-June. In July, we began scheduling public Masses on Sundays with defined conditions: 100 persons per Mass with social distancing, hand sanitizing, wearing masks and a cleaning protocol after each Mass. Yet we continue as a parish to gather for Mass and Devotions, with the school and Religious Education program operating. All other parish events and activities have been suspended for now.
I am grateful for all who have continued their financial support of the parish by mail, dropping off their envelopes in person, and by giving online. It is a blessing that helps keep the parish going.
As for the 2020 Annual Report, it does show a deficit which was offset from the parish savings. We did some major repair projects that were already in the planning stages. It was a challenging year, but we look forward to improvements in 2021 and our readiness to respond as the situation changes.
Thank you for your dedication to St. Jeanne Jugan Parish.
