The winter policy for St. Jeanne Jugan Parish is now in effect for daily Masses Monday – Friday. The policy states that when Enfield Public Schools cancel or delay school on that day, the daily 7:30 am Mass at St. Bernard Church and the daily 9 am Mass at Holy Family Church will be cancelled for that day. The policy is for the safety of all. The intentions for the Masses will be rescheduled at a mutually agreeable time. You may call the rectory of the Church where your Mass intention was scheduled to discuss a new date.
During these months of isolation and separation, we have felt a longing to gather together as a community. Many of us are struggling with loneliness and mourning a sense of normalcy in our lives. Join us as we come together to process this experience on our journey of reconnection.
On Tuesday, December 8th, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Pope Francis proclaimed that the next 12 months will be a Year of Saint Joseph. Fr. Matt and I appreciate the many ways you brighten our rectories with cards and greetings, wonderful baked items, and your many gifts. I hope and pray this time is a blest one for you and your families.

Guideline for Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) “The Guidelines issued by the Archdiocese of Hartford require that appropriate social distancing be maintained when going to Confession. Because a larger space is needed to comply with social distancing requirements, the traditional confessionals at Holy Family and St. Bernard Churches cannot be used. At Holy Family, the “Cry Room” has been reconfigured, and will be used as the new temporary confessional; at St. Bernard, the Chapel has been reconfigured, and will be used as the new temporary confessional. Like the traditional confessionals at both Holy Family and St. Bernard, the new confessionals provide a partition with a screen between priest and penitent to allow for anonymity during confession. However, parishioners also have the option of requesting a face-to-face confession with Father, which is set up for appropriate social distancing. The following Guidelines must be followed at both Churches: • All parishioners/penitents will wait in pews until their turn for Confession and maintain safe social distancing from others present in the Church. • A face mask should be worn by all parishioners/penitents while waiting in the Church and while in the Confessional. Father will also wear a face mask. • When Confession is completed the parishioner/penitent is asked to fulfill their Penance outside the Church so that no parishioner/penitent remains inside the Church after they have made Confession.”
